Juggling Grenades While Wearing Your Manager Pants: Team Management Techniques

Paperback – July 26 2020

by Amir Syed

This second edition provides practical tactics and techniques that any team manager naturally learns over time.

While the focus of this book is team management within call centers much of the material can be used by any manager.

The goal is to help you on your journey towards becoming a good people manager.

The first section of this book starts off with The Essentials every manager should be aware of.

This will help you keep your head above water while you figure out your management style.

The subsequent sections focus on tactics and advice on how to manage Your Agents on an individual level and then Your Team.

I then move onto some key things to keep in mind when handling The Queue where customers are waiting on the line to speak to an agent.

This is reason why call centres exist.

Your role in managing the queue will have a direct impact on people and profits in your organization.

The last section deals with navigating the culture in Your Organization.

For the most part you learn to be a good manager by doing the job.

Sometimes you get beat up pretty badly and other times you hit a home run.

You will find there are so many things you have to manage it’s as if you are juggling grenades while wearing your manager pants.

Hopefully with the help of this book, anything you drop doesn’t explode!

What is WikiSauga?

WikiSauga is a website about the city of Mississauga.

It’s an ongoing collaborative project.

Anyone can make a contribution; we just ask that you create a login.

You can add a page about about pretty much anything from a local restaurant, bus stop, your favorite park or whatever.

It operates under a creative commons license, meaning anything added should not be copyrighted.

Wikisauga is many things, it’s part guide to the city, part blog, part archive, part community forum… its whatever you want it to be.

It's a work in progress and will never be finished just constantly updated, edited and revised.

One of our most popular pages is the mystery picture page.

Every week or so a new picture from somewhere in Mississauga is added.

The previous mystery picture is added the the mystery history page with the answer.

This book is a compilation of all the mystery pictures featured on WikiSauga from 2007 to 2011.

These were all pictures I had taken on my various explorations of the city of Mississauga.

I hope you enjoy this book as much I had taking these pictures.
